Costa Rica, country
of the Tucans, the Aras, the volcanos and the national parks und ..........by
reason of the latter, of the contrast. For many years
in this country the rain forest was cleared off
for to have enough placefor massive cattle to export
to the meat factories in North America. But
jungle soil is not suitable for it and the rain masses
of the Tropics did a remaining. The red ground
was washed away , the land sterile, whole regions are
barren until today. In the meantime the people
in Costa Rica had understood what happened and gave the
rain forest a new chance. Today there are
27 National Parks and it will be more in the future.
Instead of cattle, tourists ought to bring money in
the country.
If you like the nature and do not be too much senstive,
you will love this National Nature Reservats.
But - relative - simple accommodations in Fincas are
in my meaning better then the newly build luxury
hotels with " all inclusive " . Staying in one of them
I saw tourist on big motor bikes with "funny wheels"
for discovering the jungle (???). May be, should tourist
destroy there somtime, what the cattle not damaged.
With my meaning are the National Park Santa Elena (Santa
Elena Forest Reserve) and the Reserva Biologica de Monteverde - promoted
by the WWF - very recommendable.
In my memory for instance between both - thus at short
distance - the Finca Valverde (P.O. Box 2-5655,Monteverde,Costa Rica)
is situated. A good, simple accommodation, in the middle of the
jungle just the best for all people, who like the nature
and - occur how me - not run away in panic if
A
good knife (my diver's knife for example)
and a pocket lamp you may need in the Tropics all times.
In tropical and subtropical areas it's anyway
better to look under the bed and blanket before going
to sleep. Some animals are looking for a warm
place for the night too. This is not a joke, but self
- preservation.
If you are diver, do not dive at the Pacific coast of
Costa Rica. You will have very bad visibility. I
had have a vis from 0 to 2 m and - after my guide was
wounded by a jelly-fish - he couldn't see it, I
gone to discover the rain forest. May be the reason for
the bad visibility in the read ground washed
from the hills, see above. I mean the Pacific coast only,
expecially the area from the Playa Tambor
to Montezuma and the Golfo de Nicaya.
The cloud forest of Costa Rica and the volcanos are very
impress, if you heard ever the Arenal volcano, you will never forget it.
